EDGAR PÊRA graduated in film editing from the School of Theater and Cinema in 1984. Shortly after, he adopted the persona of Homem-Kâmara and dedicated to filming the daily lives of Portuguese pop-rock bands. He went on to create films such as the feature film A Janela (Marialva Mix), e outros that alternated between live discussions with guest-thinkers in his films, such as Manual de Evasão LX94 (featuring Terence McKenna, Robert Anton Wilson, and Rudy Rucker) (Locarno 2001), as well as adaptations of texts like O Barão and the dystopian fiction Caminhos Magnétykos

In 2004, he had his first international retrospective at the World Wide Video Festival in Amsterdam. In 2006, he received the Pasolini Award in Paris, alongside Jodorowsky and Arrabal. In 2010, he began his research on stereoscopic format for his doctoral thesis O Espectador Espantado (UALG – Communication Culture and Art) and directed various 3D films, including Cinesapiens (part of the triptych 3X3D with Godard and Greenaway), Lisbon Revisited (a perceptionist journey through a Lisbon inhabited by Pessoa’s ghosts), and KINORAMA – Beyond The Walls of The Real with texts by Lovecraft. 

Following retrospectives at the Seoul Cinematheque (2014) and the Serralves Foundation (2018), his largest retrospective to date took place at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. In 2023, his film inspired by the complex drama in Pessoa’s work, Não Sou Nada – The Nothingness Club, premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival.
